Addressing the summit on “Developing the Critical Minerals Value Chain for a Sustainable Future” in the national capital, Mr Goyal highlighted the urgent need to establish comprehensive end-to-end value chains. He stressed that the country must also harness secondary resources, including mine waste and tailings, to maximise resource efficiency and sustainability.
Underscoring the strategic importance of the National Critical Minerals Mission, Mr Goyal stated that the initiative is designed to ensure a stable and long-term supply of key minerals. The mission encompasses a wide range of reforms, covering exploration, auctions, processing, and recycling. He noted that hundreds of exploration projects have already been undertaken, while the pace of mineral block auctions has increased significantly in recent years.
Emphasising the importance of domestic processing capabilities, Mr Goyal cautioned that merely sourcing minerals is insufficient without the development of robust value chains. He asserted that without adequate processing infrastructure, the full potential of these resources cannot be realised.
Mr Goyal concluded by stating that India is undergoing a transformative phase aimed at building resilient and sustainable supply chains, positioning the country to meet future demands in clean energy and advanced technology sectors.
